Wellington Ward is a 20 bedded gastroenterology ward. There is also an area which focuses on the care of bariatric patients.
The ward undertakes assessment, investigations and treatment of gastroenterology conditions, with expert nursing intervention to promote patient centred goals of care.
The role of the ward is therefore to allow for this process to occur, maintaining individualised assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. This being achieved by utilizing the multidisciplinary approach within the nursing philosophy expressed by the staff. There are also five isolation beds for anyone who requires barrier nursing.
