Urology

Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne District General Hospital have a dynamic team of Urologists who provide cross-site general urology services, as well as subspecialty interests to East Sussex and pan-Sussex complex of laparoscopic and robotic urology services

We have dedicated outpatient clinics on both sites, as well as at Bexhill Hospital and Uckfield Community Hospital. Eastbourne also hosts a Urology Investiation Suite offering a variety of outpatient investigations. The department has had good success in supporting all the trainees with career progression.

Many of our core trainees have been successful in obtaining urology training numbers and all the registrars progressed well with the senior ones becoming successful consultants.

Urology Investigation Suite (Eastbourne DGH)

The Urology Investigation Suite (UIS) is an outpatient unit where a wide range of diagnostic tests, minor procedures, treatments and consultations are undertaken. In-patients are also seen for diagnostic tests or procedures if required.

The UIS nurses work closely with our benign Specialist Nurse, the Uro-Oncology Specialist Nursing team and the Urology Ward to support the medical team.

Many of our clinics are One Stop; there are three One Stop Haematuria lists each week and three One Stop LUT’s clinics. We run five clinics each week for intravesical immunotherapy and chemotherapy (including Hyperthermic Mitomycin) There are two clinics each week for patients requiring prostate biopsies.

Our experienced nurses manage a wide variety of clinics including: flow clinics, ISC teaching, urodynamics and catheter clinics.

Our check flexible cystocopy lists are undertaken by our lead nurse.

UIS operates Monday to Friday – 8.00am to 5.00pm and is a very busy and dynamic department.
