Outpatient self service check-in system introduced

People attending our Outpatient departments at Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne DGH will soon be able to check-in for their appointment using new self-service kiosks.

The new kiosks, costing £75,000, will help to reduce the time people have to wait to book in for their appointment.

From Wednesday 28th June at Eastbourne DGH and from Thursday 6th July at Conquest Hospital the easy-to-use kiosks will allow people to book in for their outpatient appointment without having to queue to see a receptionist. People will simply confirm their gender and date of birth when prompted – the system will then ask them to confirm a few further details prior to booking in.

Liz Fellows, Assistant Director Operations said: “These new self service check-in kiosks are really simple to use and allow people to book themselves into a clinic on their arrival, without having to wait in a queue to be seen by a receptionist. They will help to enhance the patient experience in our outpatient departments. Step by step instructions take people through each stage of checking in by entering some basic details on the kiosk touch screen. Those people who would prefer to actually speak to a receptionist and check-in will still be able to do so. For those people wanting to use the kiosks but are unsure how to use them, our staff and volunteers will be on hand to offer help and advice.”

It is intended to roll out the self-service check-in kiosks to some of our other departments and hospitals in the future.
