Emergency Department improvements at Eastbourne DGH

Building work has started within the Emergency Department at Eastbourne DGH to improve the facilities and the  flow through the department.

The building work, costing £850,000, will include additional consulting rooms along with an improved patient waiting area and improvements to the reception area. Work is due to be completed in November.

Whilst the building work is underway there will be a temporary waiting area created. The Trust would like to apologise for any inconvenience while this improvement work is in progress.

Anyone requiring the Emergency Department should use the main entrance as normal but access around the department may be restricted during the improvement works. All the other departments at the hospital can be reached from the hospital’s main entrance.

Joe Chadwick-Bell Chief Operating Officer said: “We would apologise in advance for any disruption there may be whilst this building work is underway. We will endeavour to keep any inconvenience to a minimum, but this is difficult in an important part of the hospital that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Once completed there will be better facilities and an improved flow through the department before the department gets even busier this winter.”
