Doctors and nurses from the Cardiac team ran a support group for people fitted with pacemakers. Over 50 patients and their relatives attended the event.
Sophie Blackman from Boston Scientific gave an informative talk around the functions of a pacemaker and new developments pacemaker technology such as leadless pacemakers.
Lead Cardiology consultant Dr Nikhil Patel said: “The support group is an opportunity for patients to come together to share their experiences in an informal environment. It offers an opportunity to discuss and chat with others who have pacemakers fitted and clinical colleagues about issues that may be affecting them. We were extremely pleased with the positive feedback from everyone who attended.”
The cardiac team that attended the support group included Lead Cardiology consultant Dr Nikhal Patel, Heart Failure consultant Dr Andrew Marshall, Cardiac Physiology Manager Anne-Marie Newsholme, Heart Failure Nurse Hilda Healy, Healthcare Assistant Tracey Needham, Heart Failure and Devices Nurse Specialists Jacqueline Hunt and Hazel Church.
