Caroline Lees, Professional Lead for Occupational Therapy and ICES said: “We are proud to welcome Dawn Ellis as a qualified Occupational Therapist who will join our OT rotation in September. Her dedication, passion for Occupational Therapy and contributions to the course were recognised with her being awarded the Dr Marion Martin Award for achievement. Dawn was supported by the Trust to complete the BSc in Occupational Therapy at the University of Brighton. She qualified in July 2016 after a fouor year course. Well done Dawn, we are incredibly proud of you and welcome you.”

Dawn first joined the Community stroke team in 2009 as a rehabilitation support worker.

In the team Dawn spent time with different health care disciplines. Whilst working she attended a joint visit with an Occupational Therapist to visit a patient in their home and was inspired by the concept that activity can be used as a therapeutic tool. This encouraged Dawn to complete a four year course at the University of Brighton.
