The Elective Admissions Team, based at Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne DGH, has won the Trust’s monthly staff award for their work to support patients who are coming into hospital for planned surgery.
The team co-ordinates the booking of patients for surgery, ensuring that they receive treatment in a timely manner and that resources are used efficiently. Their work also includes contacting patients when, due to operational pressures, their surgery has to be postponed.
The team was nominated by Assistant Director of Operations, Liz Fellows, who said: “This team has responsibility for contacting patients to postpone their surgery, often at short notice. Understandably given the anxiety of preparing for surgery, the patients display a number of different emotions. Despite the emotional impact this has on the members of the team, they persevere in offering a high quality service and should be recognised for the role they play.”
Chief Executive Adrian Bull visited the team on both sites recently to present them with their award.
