Trust shortlisted for two Advancing Healthcare Awards

The East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is the only Trust in the country to be shortlisted for two Advancing Healthcare Awards.

Anita Smith, Consultant Speech and Language Therapist has been shortlisted for the Advancing practice award for the collaborative work undertaken to create the ESHT One Stop Swallow Disorder Clinic with follow Speech and Language Therapist Karen McInally and ENT Consultant Mr Paul Kirkland.

Julie Spashett, Physiotherapy Assistant and Debbie Soave, Specialist Neurophysiotherapist has been shortlisted for the award for outstanding achievement by an apprentice, support worker or technician working alongside an AHP or healthcare scientist for their work with the Sovereign stroke rehabilitation group.

Karen Poole Interim Allied Health Professional Lead said: “To be the only Trust shortlisted for two of these prestigious awards is an incredible achievement. It is recognition of the tremendous innovative work being undertaken here in East Sussex and the progress we are making as an organisation to develop services for local people. Good luck to our shortlisted colleagues at the award ceremony.”

The Advancing Healthcare Awards recognise the work of outstanding allied health professionals and healthcare scientists from throughout the UK. The awards will be presented on 31st March 2017 at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel in London at an event organised Chamberlain Dunn.
