Work has started on the revamp and upgrade of the main entrance and foyer area at Eastbourne DGH. The work will improve the facilities available for patients and visitors and is expected to be completed in the early autumn.
The improvements include changing the layout of the foyer area with updated reception and outpatient booking areas. There will also be a new cafe which will offer a varied selection of food and drink.
Along with the new café in the main entrance, there will also be one on the lower ground of the hospital. There are also plans for another refreshment facility in the main entrance. Whilst building work in underway a “temporary café” will operate from the site of the old flower shop. The Friends Shop, refurbished in 2014, remains open and will continue to provide its current range of services.
Chris Hodgson, Associate Director of Estates and Facilities said: “These refurbishments and layout changes will improve the experience for patients and visitors to Eastbourne DGH. Along with these changes, the new selection of food and refreshment offerings will enhance the facilities available. We will try to minimise any disruption but would apologise in advance for any inconvenience cause whist these building works are in progress.”
The upgrading of the main entrance is partly funded by the new provider of the café facilities at Eastbourne DGH. This refurbishment is part of an overall investment of £25million upgrading areas of Eastbourne DGH over a five year period.
