Staff Nurse Angie Short has won the Trust’s monthly staff award for her support and patience with an agitated patient.
Sue Taylor, Matron who nominated her said: “Staff nurse Angie attended a patient in the discharge lounge that was extremely agitated and aggressive. The ambulance crew were concerned because of his behaviour in the ambulance; he returned to the lounge and was verbally aggressive to anyone in his path. However Staff Nurse Angie was not perturbed by this she went up to him and gentle spoke to him calmed him down it was incredible to witness, in my 43.5 years of nursing I was amazed. Staff Nurse Angie went one step further and escorted him in the ambulance back to his care home in a calm caring manner. I am very proud of such dedication; she has continued to demonstrate this with all patients but especially when confused and anxious. I would just like to say well done and thank you.
Chairman, David Clayton-Smith presented Angie with her award along with chocolates.
