A series of events at the Trust as part of Workout at Work, a weeklong series of events to improve physical and mental health in the workplace, has been launched with a swimming gala opened by Eastbourne MP, Stephen Lloyd and Joe Chadwick-Bell, Chief Operating Officer at the Trust.
Workout at work is part of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy’s nationwide campaign, which aims to encourage people to avoid poor work habits and take more exercise. The campaign also highlights to employers the benefits of having a fitter and healthier workforce.
A series of events are being held during staff breaks or after work to encourage them to improve their health and take more exercise. This includes healthy walks, yoga, aquafit, pilates, spinning classes and boxing.
Matt Waters Team Lead Outpatient Physiotherapist said: “There are many opportunities during a working day for people to do things differently and have a mini workout. Use the stairs not the lift, stretching, correct posture at your desk, or simple exercises whilst siting in a chair.”
