Phil’s  admission to the Intensive Care Unit was completely unexpected and resulted in a very stressful time for both him and his family. Having made a remarkable recovery Phil and his wife, Michelle, wanted to say a big thank you for all the excellent care he received along with the compassion and support shown to the whole family.

They wanted to give something back to the unit and the donation of £1,035 was raised through a raffle and auction, with the help of their daughter Carly and the generosity of friends and family.

Sylvia Harris Critical Care Matron said: “We would thank Phil and his family and friends for raising this money which will be put towards improving the care and facilities that we can offer to patients and their families. Not only did they donate this money, but they noticed our DVD player in the relative’s room was faulty and donated a TV/DVD player with a selection of children’s films. We would like to say how great it is to see Phil back to normality and a big thank you to both Phil, Michelle and family for making a difference.”
