Around 80 people fitted with complex pacemakers and defibrillators shared experiences and listened to an informative talk by Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse, Holly Ward, around the risk factors and lifestyle management for cardiovascular conditions, at a support group held recently in Eastbourne.
Jacqueline Hunt, Heart Failure and Devices Specialist Nurse said: “The support group is an opportunity for patients to come together to share their experiences in an informal environment. It offers an opportunity to discuss and chat with others who have pacemakers fitted and clinical colleagues about issues that may be affecting them. The feedback from those who attend is extremely positive and they find the meeting invaluable.”
The cardiac team that attended the support group included Lead Cardiology Consultant, Professor Nikhil Patel – Heart Failure Consultant, Dr Andrew Marshall – Dr Charlotte Harrison from St Wilfrid’s Hospice – Coronary Care Nurse, Debbie Williams – Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse, Holly Ward and Heart Failure and Devices Nurse Specialists, Jacqueline Hunt and Hazel Church.
