Refurbishment of Maxillo Facial and Orthodontic department underway

An extensive programme of refurbishment to the Maxillo Facial and Orthodontic department at Eastbourne DGH is underway and includes the total refurbishment of four clinical treatment rooms.

As well as the total refurbishment of four clinical treatment rooms, new equipment will be installed, including dental examination chairs and operating lights. The £125,000 refurbishment is being substantially funded by the Friends of Eastbourne Hospital with a donation of £102,000.

Refurbishment work is expected to be completed by the end of March. While building work is underway some clinics will take place in another part of the hospital with some appointments are being temporarily moved to the Conquest Hospital Hastings. Patients affected by these temporary changes will be contacted directly by the hospital.

Mr Mike Williams, Oral and Maxillo Facial Consultant said: “This is a significant and welcome donation from the Friends of Eastbourne Hospital for which we are very grateful. It will help to totally transform the Maxillo Facial and Orthodontic department at Eastbourne DGH and improve the patient experience. While this refurbishment work is underway we would apologise for any disruption and inconvenience caused to our patients.”

Harry Walmsley, Chairman of the Friends of Eastbourne Hospital said: “The refurbishment of the Maxillo Facial and Orthodontic department at Eastbourne DGH is one of our major projects for the year. It will help to provide patients with a new environment for their treatment. My thanks to the generosity of all those people who have donated money to make this possible.”
