Flu campaign success helps protect patients

The staff flu vaccination campaign at the Trust has improved staff flu vaccination rates by over a third, helping to protect patients and the public over the winter.

The Trust vaccinated 72% of frontline staff, significantly up from 53% the previous winter (2016/17).

The Trust’s campaign to be an #ESHTFlufighter used social media, internal communications channels, and posters along with a large group of peer vaccinators to dramatically boost the numbers of staff taking up the vaccination.

Dr Adrian Bull, Chief Executive said: “We have significantly increased the number of employees getting vaccinated this past winter. This is thanks to a well organised campaign run by our occupational health team, supported by peer vaccinators and a communications programme across the Trust. It is essential to achieve a high level of vaccinations since this keeps our members of staff well and protects the people for whom we care. As a result it reduces the overall impact of flu on the communities we serve.”
