Matron wins Employee of the month award

Matron Tracey Dougan has won an employee of the month award, after being nominated twice for her support of the ward staff and the senior nursing team. Tracey was presented with her award by Trust Chairman, David Clayton-Smith.

Evette Davies, Deputy Head of Nursing for Surgery, Anaesthetics and Diagnostics Division who nominated her said: “Tracey has been exceptional during the staff consultations on Hailsham 2 and Hailsham 3 wards. She has demonstrated excellent leadership skills and the core of the trust values to allow her staff to fill they can speak openly and aid a smooth transition for staff in to new roles.

“Whilst doing this, Tracey has also been covering the Matron role on Michleham Unit due to long term sickness. The Unit staff have welcomed her into the role and she again has been motivated and keen to enhance patient care and develop the team. Tracey has and is exceptional in her role. We, as the senior nursing team are very grateful for the exceptional work she has delivered through a very challenging time.”

Claire Bishop, Head of Nursing for Surgery, Anaesthetics and Diagnostics Division who nominated her said: “Tracey has gone above and beyond to support the senior nursing team and the staff through a difficult consultation and redeployment process despite being at risk herself. She has been working with staff to offer additional support to resolve individual issues and work with all the staff to assist in making the redeployment process as smooth and stress free as possible.”
