The £125,000 refurbishment was substantially funded by the Friends of Eastbourne Hospital with a donation of £102,000. Mr Andrew Moody, Oral and Maxillofacial Consultant said: “We would like to thank the Friends of Eastbourne Hospital for their significant donation. It has helped to totally transform the Maxillofacial and Orthodontic department at Eastbourne DGH and improve the patient experience.”

Harry Walmsley, Chairman of the Friends of Eastbourne Hospital said: “The refurbishment of the Maxillofacial and Orthodontic department at Eastbourne DGH was one of our major projects for the year. It helps to provide patients with a new environment for their treatment. This along with other Friends projects is only made possible thanks to the generosity of all those people who donated money to us.”

The Maxillofacial service deals with the diagnosis and treatment of patients with diseases affecting the mouth, jaws, face and neck while Orthodontics deals with the appearance and alignment of teeth often using a brace to make corrections.
