Diabetes Specialist Nurses at the Trust have achieved accreditation to continue to deliver the SADIE (Skills for Adjusting Diet and Insulin in East Sussex) educational programme, that supports people living with Type 1 Diabetes.
The programme has been approved by the Quality Institute for Self-Management in Education and Training (QISMET), for another three years. Nikki Winter, Diabetes Specialist Nurse said: “Achieving QISMET means that the programme we offer our patients meets the quality standards defining good practice. It also demonstrates that the programme meets the national quality standards for structured diabetes education as set out by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence). We can assurance participants that our programme is based on the best available evidence, is regularly audited and provides a specific level of quality service.”
The SADIE course is designed for people with Type 1 diabetes offering participants an opportunity to update and refresh their knowledge and skills to confidently self-manage their diabetes with no food limitations or restrictions on their daily activities.
