Cardiology Registrar, Dr Hiten Patel has won an employee of the month award for his clinical knowledge and bedside manner. Dr Patel was presented with his award by Trust Chairman, David Clayton-Smith.

Dr Dan O’Shea from Cardiology, who nominated Dr Patel said: “Hiten is an excellent clinician, both in terms of his clinical knowledge and acumen but also in terms of his excellent bedside manner and is well liked by patients. He is also an excellent mentor and role model for other junior doctors. He supports us with training – both formally and informally, often staying late to fulfil those roles. This extends to all grades from foundation up to registrar level. He is a good leader and excellent team player and always has time for everyone. Noticeably when he is working, team morale automatically improves. He is a good source of support to the consultants and they have confidence when he is working. He is a ‘go to’ person for everyone. Formal recognition of his work and services is long overdue”.
