Diabetes Specialist Nurse, Erwin Castro, has won an Employee of the Month Award for his dedication to his patients and mentoring of colleagues.

Dr Umesh Dashora, Consultant for Diabetes and Endocrinology, who nominated Erwin said “Erwin Castro is an inspirational person and specialist diabetes nurse. He works very hard to keep all his patients safe and happy giving them free access to his personal time.
He is an exceptionally gifted teacher and spends huge amount of time and energy to organise educational programme for medical students, ward nurses, Health Care Assistants and junior doctors.
“He is highly organised and updates a huge number of Trust guidelines in relation to diabetes. He is always more than happy to cover any staffing or service gaps and is probably one of the most popular people in the hospital amongst patients as well as staff.”
Erwin was presented with his award by Trust Chairman, Steve Phoenix.
