The Electronics and Medical Engineering Department provides a comprehensive medical equipment management service and supporting in excess of 34,000 medical devices across nearly 2,000 clinical locations. The team provide fully managed medical maintenance contracts for medical equipment and repair medical equipment within the Trust and to other healthcare providers.

Sim’s nomination read: “Sim does a lot of work for the Trust which goes under the radar and is unrecognised but not this time. He has just secured and collected from another NHS Hospital a significant amount of equipment which they no longer could use, due a change of system, which meant we got the equipment at zero cost. We are so grateful for this equipment which we can use to look after and care for our patients.”

Sim Beaumont, Electronics and Medical Engineering (EME) Manager said: “When I found out this medical equipment was available at zero cost to the Trust, I was quick to react and secured it for our patients. In all, we got 37 volumetric infusion pumps, 15 Three channel devices for oncology / specialist areas and 22 single channel devices which have been added to the equipment libraries stock to support our winter pressures, and if purchased would have cost in the region of £100K.”

Sim was presented with his award by Trust Chairman Steve Phoenix.
