Pennies from Heaven Silver Award

Pennies from Heaven: Silver Award winner

We are delighted to have won a Pennies from Heaven Silver Award!

The award is in recognition of the high number of Trust staff who donate their payslip pennies to our chosen charity, Demelza, who provide hospice care for children.

17% of our staff have signed up to raise funds through the scheme, which contributes between a penny and 99p from their monthly pay. For example, if an employee’s earnings in a month are £854.21, then the 21p will go to Pennies from Heaven, who in turn donate it to our chosen charity.

Since we joined the scheme in 2008, our staff have donated £45,000 in small change to our charities – initially alternating between St. Michael’s Hospice and St. Wilfrid’s Hospice, then donating our pennies to Demelza since 2012.

Steve Aumayer, Chief People Officer, said: “We are delighted to win a Pennies from Heaven Award for the second year in a row. Despite the demands of the last 12 months and more, our staff have continued to generously donate the pennies in their payslips through our payroll system. Pennies from Heaven is an excellent initiative and I would encourage any staff not yet involved to sign up should they feel able.”

Kate Frost, CEO of Pennies from Heaven, said: “Winning this award is a fantastic achievement. Thank you for your continued support of Pennies from Heaven which provides an essential source of reliable and regular income to charities at a time when they need it more than ever.”
