Community Nursing team wins ‘Hero of the Month’ award

The rural Rother community nursing team based at Wheel Farm in Westfield, has won our ‘Hero of the Month’ award.

Community nursing team with Steve Phoenix, Chairman

The team was nominated by Carol Webber, District Nurse, Clinical Lead, Carol said: “I would like to nominate all of the Community district nursing team in rural Rother who worked through the Eunice Storm.

“The team continued to visit their patients, even though the roads were littered with fallen trees, telephone and electric cables plus the high winds and having to avoid blown over cars and lorries. The whole team pulled together and managed to make their visits even with journey times as long as an hour between patient at times.

“One team member finished her shift at 6.45am after a journey of three hours to get to her home. I am proud to work for this Trust and humbled by our wonderful community teams that work so hard whatever the conditions.”

Steve Phoenix, Chairman, presented the team with a certificate and chocolates.

The ‘Hero of the Month’ award recognises the great work of our colleagues who demonstrate how our values are lived out as part of everyday working life.

Each month, members of staff nominate their colleagues for this award. Eight divisional heroes of the month are then selected by divisional leads and these nominations go forward to be selected as our overall ‘Hero of the Month’ by the Trust Executive team.
