Congratulations to Dawn Woodgate, Clinical Support Worker, Emergency Department, who was presented with an NHS England healthcare support worker (HCSW) Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) award by Claire Bishop, Deputy Chief Nurse.
Dawn’s colleagues also joined the surprise presentation, showing their support and celebrating her receiving her certificate.
The Chief Nursing Officer Awards recognise the enormous range of skills, expertise and compassion required in nursing. They acknowledge those who go above and beyond their everyday roles to provide ‘excellent care, leadership and inspiration to their colleagues and patients’.
Anyone can nominate a colleague for the award, which are reviewed and approved by NHS England senior management team for nursing, and a winner chosen.
Dawn was nominated by her colleagues within the Emergency Department. In the nomination she was praised for her “wonderful approach towards patients and colleagues, taking time to listen to patients and their relatives in addition to providing a listening ear for colleagues.”
The nomination continues, “Dawn is always caring and considerate in how she speaks and interacts with patients, relatives and colleagues and often receives thanks from grateful patients and relatives.”
“Dawn is keen to share her knowledge and experience with others and will support new staff during their orientation period and into their new role.”
Dawn was described as “a pleasure to work with and someone who fully deserves to have their compassion duly recognised.”
