Local amateur dramatics group, The Spotlight Players have made a donation of £1650 to the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at Conquest Hospital, following a year of fundraising when they made the unit, their charity of the year (2025).
The curtains came down on their fundraising efforts, with the final performance of their end of year Christmas Pantomime, which took place at St Mary’s church hall in Decoy Drive, Eastbourne over the weekend of 5th, 6th and 7th December 2025.
Special Care Baby Unit matron, Manju Thomas said: “Jackie Bignell of The Spotlight Players spoke to me earlier in the year to let me know they had chosen SCBU as their charity/good cause for 2025. This was because a member of her family was looked after on the unit, and they were very grateful for the care given, and wanted to support us.
“This is such a kind donation and we are really grateful, and would like to thank Jackie, and the Spotlight players for everything they have done. The monies will be used to buy a video laryngoscope which will be used for emergencies in the department.”
