Detailed accessibility guides are now available for several of our services in Bexhill.
Created in partnership with AccessAble, the guides provide step-by-step information to help patients, carers and visitors understand what to expect before travelling.
They include practical details such as:
- where to park or be dropped off
- step-free access and gradients
- entrances and door widths
- reception areas
- lifts and corridors
- waiting areas
- accessible toilets
Having this information in advance can help people feel more confident, prepared and comfortable when coming to hospital or clinic appointments.
Guides are available for:
- Bexhill Hospital
- Bexhill Clinical Diagnostic Centre
- The Irvine Unit
- Egerton Park Clinic (Community Paediatrics – Parkview)
Shaped by disabled people
The introduction of AccessAble guides was suggested by our staff Disability Network. Antony Sugden, Chair of the Network, said:
“These guides will make a real difference to disabled people and their families by removing uncertainty about visiting our services. When people can check access in advance, it reduces stress and helps them arrive feeling confident and welcomed.”
Supported by Charitable Funds
This project was made possible thanks to our Charitable Funds and means we are the first NHS Trust in Sussex to provide this level of detailed, independent accessibility information for our buildings.
