Hannah Syed, Diabetes Specialist Pharmacist at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, has been named Diabetes Pharmacist of the Year at the Diabetes Nursing Awards 2026.

The Diabetes Pharmacist of the Year Award recognises pharmacists who have made an outstanding contribution to the care and support of people living with diabetes through excellence in medicines optimisation, patient education and collaborative working within multidisciplinary teams.
The judges praised Hannah for her commitment to improving access to diabetes care, reducing unwarranted variation, and promoting safer, more personalised treatment for people living with diabetes.
Speaking after receiving the award, Hannah said: “It is really nice that the Diabetes Nursing Awards are acknowledging pharmacists this year. It’s exciting that we now have a category within these awards. It is a great privilege to be here tonight.”
The award was presented at the Diabetes Nursing Awards 2026, held at The Orchard Hotel and Restaurant in Nottingham on Friday 10 July. Hosted by broadcaster and GP Dr Sarah Jarvis MBE, the event brought together around 100 healthcare professionals, finalists and colleagues from across the UK to celebrate excellence, innovation and dedication in diabetes care.
