Charli Brown represented the trust at the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Winter Pressures Leadership Conference in London, taking part in a panel discussion on the importance of psychological safety within healthcare teams.
The conference brought together nursing leaders and professionals from across the country to share learning, discuss challenges and explore ways to strengthen leadership and staff wellbeing during periods of increased pressure on services.
As a panel member, Charli shared insights and experiences on creating environments where colleagues feel safe to speak up, share ideas, raise concerns and learn from mistakes without fear of judgement.
Psychological safety is recognised as a key factor in building strong, effective teams and supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. Discussions focused on the role leaders play in fostering inclusive cultures where every member of staff feels valued, respected and heard.
Charli said: “Psychological safety is something I am incredibly passionate about. Every member of staff should feel able to speak up, share ideas, raise concerns and learn from experiences without fear of judgement. When people feel valued, supported and listened to, it not only improves staff wellbeing but also helps us provide the safest and best possible care for our patients.
“Being part of the panel was a new experience for me, but it was incredibly rewarding. I was proud to represent ESHT, contribute to such an important conversation and learn from the experiences and perspectives of colleagues from across the healthcare sector.”
The event provided an opportunity to showcase the positive work taking place to support staff, promote open communication and strengthen a culture of learning and continuous improvement across the organisation.
