What is electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS)?
EMG and NCS involve sensors being applied to the skin, or a fine needle inserted into the muscle, so that biological signals can be recorded following presentation of a stimulus. There are various types of EMG/NCS procedures and the number performed will depend on what information is needed by the referring doctor.
