Understanding Cataract Surgery

Your eye is like a camera with a lens which focuses light rays on the retina (the receptor layer at the back of the eye, the ‘film’ in the camera). Normally this lens is transparent but when there is a cataract it becomes cloudy. The light rays can no longer pass evenly through the lens to reach the retina making it difficult for you to see.
