New PSU Workshops for Doctors in Training

HEE are running a number of new workshops for doctors in training throughout the summer including: Choosing FY1 speciality and F3 options, Preparing for consultant interviews and  SRTT virtual coaching and support. Further details can be found below.

NEW!​​ SRTT V-Space virtual Coaching & Support Programmes (June/Sept/Nov 2022)​​​​

The V-Space Coaching and Support Programme is a series of four group coaching and peer support sessions for doctors returning to training after taking time out. The small groups run for 2.5 hours every fortnight and are led by a senior group coach from the Professional Support Unit’s Coaching Service. Conducted entirely online and in a confidential setting, V-Space aims to create a supportive, confidential and structured learning environment for peer discussion. Each session draws on a range of practical coaching tools for self-reflection, goal-setting, enhanced confidence, stress management and leadership communication.

Sessions combine experiential learning via pair and group activities with insights from guest speakers plus coaching tools and support resources. The overall aim is to assist doctors to return to training with a clear sense of their needs and objectives, as well as the support and resources to achieve these with full confidence and commitment. For further information & registration please click here:

These 1 hour webinars, delivered by the HEE Careers London team, will include key information advice and guidance on what to consider to make the most of your F3 year including travel/volunteering abroad, fellowships, further study/qualifications and non-training options. NEW!​​ The Consultant Interview – Preparing for success Workshop (Wed 21st June 2022 9.30-13.00/ Thurs 18th Aug 2022 13.30-17.30)

This half-day virtual workshop is targeted to trainee doctors within 18 months prior to completion of their training. It’s aim is to help you to identify a plan of action to address your preparation for the consultant selection process, with a focus on polishing up your interview techniques and approaches. Through small group conversations and mock interviews, you will have the opportunity to learn from each other and deepen your insight into what it takes to make your next interview a success. NEW! Open MIC (Mock Interview Clinics) – Virtual session for consultant interview practice (Thurs 28th July 10.00-12.30/Tue 13th Sept 14.00-16.30)

Due to demand, the HEE Careers London & KSS team will be running further mock interview clinics in July & September for London & KSS trainees across all medical specialties who are within 18 months of CCT. Each Open MIC session will enable participants to practise in small groups of peers, and gain feedback on answering different types of questions they can expect at consultant interviews. To find out more and register please click here:

Dr Umesh Dashora

East Sussex Medical Education aim to provide high quality careers support for all junior doctors working at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. Dr Umesh Dashora is a Consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes and leads on careers support in the Trust. He has been working with ESHT since 2006.   Dr Dashora has a keen interest in medical education and is also a Senior Lecturer at BSMS, the Deputy Sub Dean BSMS and the Regional Link Fellow RCPE. Careers Workshops and 1:1 Support

Your administrator will let you know when Careers opportunities arise, depending on your grade.

The Education Department here at ESHT are determined to make your wellbeing a priority. As such, we have a Pastoral Fellow team dedicated to supporting you. Paul, our Nurse Fellow – Pastoral, covers the Eastbourne area and Jolie, our Pastoral Fellow the Hastings area. Both Paul and Jolie are based in our education centres and aim to support you through work, personal or other difficulties and are a source of referral for when more specialist support is needed.
