Dr Pool studied medicine at Westminster Medical School qualifying in 1986. He spent three years in research in the department of academic rheumatology at St Georges Hospital Medical School, London.
Dr Pool was trained in both rheumatology and acute internal medicines by the South Thames Regional Training Scheme. He was awarded a certificate of specialist accreditation in both rheumatology and internal medicine in 2000.
