Profile

Mr Saruban Pasu BSc MBBS MD(Res) FRCOphth is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. He is also the lead for the Diabetic Retinal Screening service for East Sussex. He was previously a locum Consultant Ophthalmologist for Imperial College in London.

His interests include Cataract surgery, general ophthalmology and disorders of the retina including vein occlusions, diabetes and age related macular degeneration. He is able to perform retinal and YAG laser, as well as intravitreal injections. He has a strong academic interest having published extensively in medical journals, and has presented his work at international meetings. He spent two years of his training fully dedicated to research at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, which lead to the award of a postgraduate research degree MD(res).

Mr Pasu completed his schooling at The Perse School, Cambridge and graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine in London. His extensive and comprehensive ophthalmology training was in London, namely at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Imperial College. Mr Pasu completed his subspecialty training in Medical Retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital. During this time he developed a keen interest in complex cataract surgery and took an active and passionate role in teaching junior eye surgeons. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

Mr Pasu has been described as a compassionate, dynamic and safe surgeon who prides himself on the high quality of his work.
