Temporary staff parking

Temporary closure of the overflow car park - 6pm Friday 3 July to Monday 31 August

The overflow car park at Eastbourne DGH closes at 6pm on Friday 3 July until Monday 31 August, for the much anticipated essential drainage and resurfacing works.

This will also mean the EV charging stations will be unavailable for the duration of the works.

It is recognised that this closure will be challenging, especially in the first two weeks, while the school term is still in place. Temporary alternative parking has been put in place, including 180 spaces at East Sussex college and an additional 25 spaces being added on the existing Eastbourne DGH site. However, there still will be around 160 spaces lost at peak times.

In addition arrangements are being made with a local secondary school (within walking distance) to secure some back up parking availability during the school holiday period.

The team will ensure that there is clear signage in place to show alternative parking and will make sure there is on-site support from the Parking team during the closure.

Please consider alternative arrangements, where possible, to help manage the shortfall:

  • Car share where possible
  • Use public transport or other travel options
  • Speak with your line manager about flexible working
  • Plan ahead, especially at peak times

Supporting our Car Parking Teams

As staff adjust to the temporary changes to parking arrangements at the overflow car park at Eastbourne DGH, our car parking teams will be visible across the site, particularly during the first few weeks, providing support, guidance and assistance. Their role will be essential in helping everyone navigate the changes and ensuring that arrangements run as smoothly as possible.

It is important that all colleagues are treated with dignity and respect at all times. Our car parking teams are working hard to support staff during this period, and any form of abuse, intimidation or unacceptable behaviour towards them will not be tolerated.

By showing patience, understanding and kindness towards one another, we can help create a positive experience for everyone and ensure these temporary arrangements are implemented as effectively as possible.
