Regional East Sussex Pulmonary Service (RESPS)

The Regional East Sussex Pulmonary Service (RESPS) team consists of experienced respiratory nurses and physiotherapists with a specialist knowledge in chronic respiratory conditions.

The aim of the service is to provide patients and their carers/relatives with support, advice, interventions and management appropriate to their needs and wishes. The team provide Pulmonary Rehabilitation which is an exercise and education programme designed to improve the wellbeing of those with chronic respiratory conditions. We also provide a home oxygen assessment and review service.

Who can access the service?

The service is available to adults in the Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford and Hastings and Rother areas of East Sussex with a confirmed diagnosis of either:

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Bronchiectasis
  • Pulmonary Fibrosis / Interstitial Lung Disease
  • The oxygen assessment service is also open to those that have a diagnosis known to cause low oxygen levels (e.g. Heart Failure).

How do I access the service?

Referrals can be made via a GP, consultant or other health care professional.

Where does the service take place?

Mainly within community clinics across the region, but also at Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne DGH. We will also see some patients in their home.

Availability of the service

Monday to Friday – 8am to 6pm. Weekends and Bank Holidays – 9am to 5pm.
