The Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) is a small team of two Specialist Nurses, an Administration Manager/Case Finder and a part time Administration Assistant.
The service aims to prevent further fractures and to raise awareness of general bone health by providing secondary fracture prevention.
We provide a comprehensive Bone Health Assessment (usually aged 50 and over) to reduce the chance of further fractures. The FLS operates at Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne DGH for patients registered with a GP across the Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford and Hastings and Rother areas.
The team identifies eligible patients on a proactive case-finding basis and works with GP’s, orthopaedics, rheumatology, falls Team and other departments to decide on and make recommendations on appropriate treatment options.
The team work in line with national guidelines to support the Trust to meet NICE recommendations and work closely with the Royal Osteoporosis Society and the Royal College of Physicians and data is entered onto The Royal College of Physicians National Falls and Fragility Fracture Audit Programme.
