We have dedicated fertility clinics at both Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne DGH. The service is run by two highly qualified consultant gynaecologists and fertility specialists with extensive experience both in secondary fertility care and tertiary Assisted Reproductive Therapy (ART), supported by a team of middle-grade medical staff. The ESHT Fertility Service provides advice, investigations and treatments to the secondary care level. These include the provision of comprehensive investigatory protocol, counselling and advice regarding diagnoses, and all fertility treatment short of ART.
Treatment modalities include ovulation induction therapies (eg. Clomid and Metformin) supported by a well-developed ultrasound follicular tracking service. Both consultants are experienced laparoscopic fertility surgeons, specialising in various operations including salpingostomy, ovarian drilling, ovarian cystectomy, and treatment of fertility related endometriosis.
The Fertility Service also works closely with local CCGs in formulating guidelines for NHS ART, and screening and referral of fertility couples for such treatment. The two Consultants Fertility Specialists provide seamless secondary and tertiary care for fertility couples under their care.
The urogynaecology service is accredited by the British society of Urogynaecology which is the governing body of the urogynaecology practice in UK. We are the only accredited unit in Sussex area. This is down to the defined and monitored standards of care, organisation and quality within urogynaecology unit. These standards are measurable, comparable and ensure delivering best practice according to the NICE guidance. The examining committee was satisfied that the unit provides a robust mechanism for ensuring quality control and practising clinical urogynaecology at high standards and value to service users, commissioners and providers.
The committee was also satisfied that we endeavour to improve patient care, encourage multidisciplinary working, and enhance prospects to grow and develop new services like out-patient treatment of stress in continence and obstetric ananl sphinteric injury clinic OASIS.
