We are a therapy led team. The PCASS team consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Nurses, Care Co-ordinators, and Rehab Support Workers who aim to provide a holistic virtual assessment, first line advice, education on self-management strategies, and access to appropriate resources.

We are also able to complete referrals to specialist services as required.

We promote a personalised care approach ensuring shared decision making at every stage of the pathway.

How do I contact PCASS?

Attending an Post COVID Team (PCASS) intial appointment

The initial assessment is a telephone appointment with one of the Professional Clinical Co-ordinators.

PCASS is a virtual service, however we can arrange face to face appointments at Bexhill Health Centre if clinically indicated.

It is a telephone appointment approximately an 60 to 90 minutes. Please make sure you are sitting somewhere comfortable, with refreshments and in a confidential space.

  • Any identified resources to support you will be sent either by post or email with a copy of the Assessment report
  • We may refer you to other teams to help enable your rehabilitation (e.g. Joint Community Rehabilitation, or Community Connectors)
  • Following your assessment, you may have further input from the team (e.g. fatigue and breathlessness groups, return to work input)

We will support you by offering reviews at 3 months and 6 months after your initial assessment.

Attending a Breathlessness Clinic and group information

You will be offered an alternative individual session with a member of the Post COVID Breathlessness team.

You will be seen by a member of the Post COVID Breathlessness Team face to face, and this is likely to be a physiotherapist.

You will receive information in the form of a letter either by post or email as to where the clinic might be.

Your appointment can take between 30 to 60 minutes.

Yes – please let the team know at your initial assessment or prior to booking the appointment.

You will be offered an alternative individual session with a member of the Post COVID Breathlessness team.

You will be sent resources from that session.

Please allow 24 hours’ notice where possible, to inform the PCASS team if you need to miss a group session. If you miss two or more sessions, unfortunately we cannot offer you a second course, but you will still have access to additional support pathways and follow-up reviews where applicable.

You will either be attending a group at:

a) Hastings Centre – The Ridge, Hastings, TN34 2SA
b) St Richards Church Hall – corner of Etchingham Road and Priory Road, Eastbourne, BN23 7AR

  • There will be information provided in the form of presentations on topics such as fatigue, diet, breathlessness, health and wellbeing support.
  • There will be an element of exercise, that will be tailored to your individual need.

The group will occur once a week, for two hours and will continue for 8 weeks.

You will remain open to the PCASS team, who will be reviewing at either 3 months or 6 months after your initial assessment, depending on where you are within your own rehab journey.

Fatigue groups and information

You will be supported virtually on Microsoft Teams (link is sent you prior to the group) by an Occupational Therapist and Rehab Support Worker who will be facilitating the group. There will likely be 8 people in the group, along with the facilitator and the rehab support worker.

You will be given information on how to manage your fatigue, and how you might integrate these strategies into your every day activities.

The groups are four weeks, and around 60 minutes per session.

You will be sent resources from that session. If you miss two or more sessions, you will have the option to return to the waiting list for future dates or to review whether a group is the best option for you.

You will remain open to the PCASS team, who will be reviewing either three months or six months after your initial assessment, depending on where you are within your own rehab journey.
