Eastbourne District General Hospital is located on the outskirts of Eastbourne town centre on one of the main thoroughfares into Eastbourne and has commanding views of the town and its rural locality.
It has a number of medical and surgical wards and specialist units, a 24 hour Emergency Department and a full range of diagnostic services including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computer Tomography (CT) and Interventional Radiotherapy.
Hyper acute and acute stroke services are single sited at Eastbourne DGH. Eastbourne DGH also has a Midwifery-led Maternity Unit.
Emergency and high risk general surgery takes place at Conquest Hospital. Planned (elective) operations are carried out at both Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne DGH but a small number of these planned operations, which include the more complex procedures, are undertaken at Conquest Hospital.
