If you are have a booked appointment or operation, before travelling to the hospital, please ensure that you know which clinic or department you are going to. This information will be on your appointment letter. Please also bring this letter with you to your appointment.

Stagecoach

There is a bus stop with shelter within the grounds of Eastbourne DGH near the outpatients entrance, and bus stops immediately outside the hospital in Kings Drive.

Buses that serve Eastbourne DGH from Eastbourne Town Centre

Stagecoach services LOOP, 1A, 51, 54, 56, 98, all travel to Eastbourne DGH. Please  visit the Stagecoach website for details and location of where they set off from.

Buses that serve Eastbourne DGH from the Polegate area

Stagecoach services 51, 54, 56, 98 all travel to Eastbourne DGH. Please visit the Stagecoach website for details and location of where they set off from.

Buses that serve Eastbourne DGH from the Pevensey area

Stagecoach services 99 indirectly serves Eastbourne DGH, but involves a change in Eastbourne Town Centre onto services 98, 51. Please visit the Stagecoach website for details and location of where they set off from.

Eastbourne Rail Station is a main line rail station and is approximately 1.5 miles from Eastbourne DGH. Main line trains from London Victoria run regularly to Eastbourne.

However Hampden Park Rail Station could be considered as an alternative as it is approximately 1 mile from Eastbourne DGH, but it is not a main line rail station and does not have the same frequency of trains stopping. Please check train timetables carefully.

Travelling by Car

Eastbourne DGH is on the A2021. When arriving at the main vehicle entrance the main public car park (pay on foot) is on the left.

Patients or visitors may be taken to or collected from the main entrance at drop off points, but cars cannot wait in these areas.

Please be aware parking can be difficult at peak times. Please leave enough time or consider using alternative transport.

Exemptions currently apply to:
  • Blue badge holders – Disabled people: holders of a valid Blue Badge attending one of our hospitals as a patient or visitor, or for a disabled person employed by the Trust receive free parking for the duration of their attendance at, or visit to, our hospitals.
  • Patients attending cancer/oncology clinics and their relatives (national MacMillan guidelines)
  • End of Life Care relatives (bereavement)
  • Frequent outpatient attenders: free parking will be provided to people attending outpatients who attend hospital for an appointment at least three times within a month and for an overall period of at least three months. A ‘month’ is defined as a period of 30 days. Patients should bring their appointment card/letters and present these to the site Parking Office.
  • Parents of sick children staying overnight: this is for a parent or guardian of a child or young person, under 18 years of age, who is admitted as an inpatient to hospital overnight. They will receive free parking between the hours of 7.30pm and 8am while visiting the child. This would apply to a maximum of two vehicles. Parents should visit the site Parking Office to claim this exemption.

Conquest Hospital

Eastbourne DGH

Holders of a valid Blue Badge attending one of our hospitals as a patient or visitor, or for a disabled person employed by the Trust receive free parking for the duration of their attendance at, or visit to, our hospitals.

Blue badge holders can also park in our pay-on-foot car parks free of charge by taking their blue badge and car park entry ticket to the Car Park kiosks before they exit the car park, so they can be validated.

We have provided designated disabled parking bays close to the hospital entrances.

Walking from Eastbourne rail station

These are directions from Eastbourne rail station. Starting from outside of Eastbourne rail station travel north towards the roundabout at the end of Terminus Road. Take the second exit or straight ahead into Upperton Road. Turn right into The Avenue. Travel along The Avenue and then turn left into Carew Road. Travel along Carew Road until you reach Mill Gap Road. Turn right into Mill Gap Road and travel along until you reach Lewes Road. Turn left into Lewes Road and travel along this road. Lewes Road becomes Kings Drive. Travel along Kings Drive until you reach the roundabout, Eastbourne DGH is third exit or straight ahead.

Hampden park rail station is closer but doesn’t have the same frequency of trains as Eastbourne rail station. The walking route from Hampden Park station is also partly along footpaths which are not close to main roads. If you would prefer to walk from this station, please consult the train timetables carefully, and use your own favoured route guidance to find the best walking route.

Help with Travel Costs

If you are referred to our hospitals for NHS specialist treatment or diagnostic tests by your doctor, dentist or other health professional, you may be able to claim a refund of reasonable travel costs under the Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme (HTCS).

You should take your travel receipts, appointment letter or card, and proof that you are receiving one of the qualifying benefits to the cashier’s office to claim your travel costs:
