Health Visitors in East Sussex are part of a wider team called the Health Visiting and Children’s Centre Service team.

The Health Visitor is the key professional responsible for the health of the 0-5 year old, promoting their positive health and wellbeing enabling them to reach their full potential, and not be disadvantaged through ill health or disability. Health Visitors are registered nurses or midwives who undertake further (post registration) Health Visitor training.

Community Nursery Nurses use their specialist knowledge of children’s health/ development needs to support parents and boost the child’s development through play. The Nursery Nurses work closely with the Health Visitors and undertake specific tasks with families under the Health Visitors guidance. A nursery nursing will be qualified in one of the following: (BTEC National Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development, CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education or NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development).
