Amaze

Amaze is a charity that gives information, advice and support to families of children and young people with any diagnosis, or no diagnosis at all. Visit their website or telephone 01273 772289. East Sussex CLASS+

CLASS+ works across East Sussex to support families/carers of Autistic children and young people. Visit their website or telephone 01273 336887.

East Sussex School Health provides a contact point for parents, carers, professionals and secondary school aged young people.

Mental health and wellbeing support

  • i-Rock is a drop-in service for young people aged 14 to 25 years offering advice and support on emotional and mental wellbeing, jobs, education and housing at various locations across East Sussex.
  • E-wellbeing is a digital wellbeing service designed by young people, for young people aged 13 to 25 years old in Sussex
  • Teen Talk is a young carers counselling service for 12 to 18 year olds in Hastings and Rother.
  • e-motion offer online counselling, chat and emotional support for young people aged 12 to 18yrs.
  • Sussex CAMHS offers support with emotional and mental wellbeing for children, young people and their parents or carers.
  • YoungMinds offers information on a variety of issues affecting a young person’s mental health and advice on what to do, including a helpline providing support and advice to parents and carers.
  • Holding Space is a small charity in Eastbourne which support families going through mental ill health.
  • Child Therapy Service is a mental wellbeing hub providing an online toolbox of downloadable resources to support children’s mental wellbeing.
  • Education Future’s Trust is dedicated to supporting and helping children and families.
  • The FSN charity offers free services across Hastings and St Leonards.
  • Remarkable Me supports children’s and young people’s emotional wellbeing and mental health.
  • The Youth Fairy helps young people to become calmer, happier more confident versions of themselves.
  • Headspace offers meditations, videos and articles promoting mindfulness.

Crisis support

  • Sussex Mental Healthline: 0800 0309 500, available 24/7
  • Mind Help Tool
  • The Samaritans provide confidential telephone support 24/7. Call 116 123
  • Childline is available on 0800 1111 open 24 hours a day.
  • The Papyrus helpline is open 10am-10pm for any young people experiencing suicidal thoughts. Call 0800 068 441.
  • The LGBT Foundation helpline is available 10am to 10pm. Call 03453 30 30 30.
  • The Domestic Abuse Helpline is available 24hours a day on 0808 2000 247 for anyone experiencing or worried about domestic abuse
  • Shout operate a 24/7 crisis support service. Text SHOUT to 85258, free on most UK Networks.
  • TESS is a text based service for girls and young women affected by self-harm open until 9pm on 0780 047 2908

Education for learning and recovery

  • Sussex Recovery College offer educational courses about mental health and recovery which are designed to increase your knowledge, skills and promote self-management.
  • Discovery College offer a learning journey to wellbeing for children, young people (ages 12 to 20 years) and supporters (relatives, friends and carers).
