Visiting Times

Visiting restrictions – essential visitors only

To help us keep our patients, staff and visitors safe, stop the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19) and keep our hospitals running, we are restricting visiting to essential visitors only. We are asking that people don’t visit our hospitals, with the exception of:

  • One visitor to a patient in a critical condition who may be at the end of their life
  • One parent or guardian visiting a child or accompanying them to an appointment
  • One birthing partner in labour wards only
  • One carer for a patient with additional needs that cannot be met by hospital staff (eg. BSL or d/Deaf Blind interpreter, dementia support, carers etc)

We ask for the public’s help in respecting these rules. We know how important it is for our patients to have visitors and we would encourage visitors to use a phone or video call to keep in touch with loved ones at our hospitals.

If you are visiting a patient, the ward visiting times are Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne DGH vary according to each ward. Please visit our hospital pages for a list of wards and their visiting times:

To reduce disturbance for all patients during visiting times, visitors are limited to two per visit on inpatient wards and limited to one person if you are attending for Day Surgery.

You are welcome to bring gifts during your visits. However, due to lack of space and to keep ward areas tidy, flowers should be restricted to small arrangements in oasis only, rather than large bunches needing vases.

Another popular choice is for visitors to buy tokens for Hospedia, the bedside pay-to-use television and telephone system.

Visiting restrictions

Occasionally it may be necessary to restrict visiting to a ward because of a risk of infection such as Norovirus or COVID-19 (Coronavirus) – Please visit the Visiting restrictions page for the latest information
