Eastbourne intensive therapy unit

Eastbourne Intensive Therapy Unit comprises 5 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 3 High Dependency Unit (HDU) beds in a combined, mixed sex unit.

Over 60 experienced staff; doctors, nurses and allied health professionals provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We admit around 350 patients each year and provide a service for approximately 500,000 people of which we are extremely proud.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

An experienced critical care nurse will provide specialist care for each patient who has a serious illness, usually on a one to one ratio.

High Dependency Unit (HDU)

The patients here are less dependent than patients in the Intensive Care Unit but still require close monitoring. Usually one experienced critical care nurse will care for two patients in HDU.
