Acute Assessment Unit (AAU)

The Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) is a busy 19 bedded inpatient assessment area where patients with wide ranging medical conditions are assessed and treated.

Patients are referred by their GP, the Emergency Department or from community services.

We aim to either transfer patients to speciality areas within the hospitals or discharge within 72 hours to the most appropriate location.

Our philosophy is to provide high quality care and to treat our patients with respect and dignity. We have a multidisciplinary approach to care and have access to a wide range of allied health professionals. The nursing team is led by an experienced Matron and the medical team consists of four consultants and an Acute clinical lead. The unit has access to speciality teams who we may ask to see you during your visit.

We continually look forward to improve our service and welcome any feedback.

The Acute Assessment Unit is on Level 3 (please see map).
