If you are have a booked appointment or operation, before travelling to the hospital, please ensure that you know which clinic or department you are going to. This information will be on your appointment letter. Please also bring this letter with you to your appointment.

If you are visiting someone on a ward, please check which ward they are on, and the relevant visiting hours.

Accordion

There are bus shelters in and around the Conquest Hospital. The main shelters are near to the front entrance, and there are bus shelters in the lay-bys immediately outside on The Ridge.

Stagecoach

Buses that serve Conquest Hospital from the Bexhill area

Stagecoach services 99, 22A, 98 all travel to Hastings and St Leonards from Bexhill, but will need a change of bus to continue to Conquest Hospital. Please ask advice from the driver or visit the Stagecoach website for details and location of where they set off from.

Bus routes that serve Conquest Hospital from Rye

Stagecoach services 100, 101, 313, 342 directly or indirectly serve the Conquest Hospital. All travel to Hastings, but may need a change of bus to continue to Conquest Hospital. Please ask advice from the driver or visit the Stagecoach website for details and location of where they set off from.

Hastings Rail Station is the closest main line station at approximately three miles to Conquest Hospital.

Main line trains from London Charing Cross (direct), and London Victoria (via Eastbourne) run regularly to Hastings.

However Battle Rail Station could be considered as an alternative as it is also approximately three miles from Conquest Hospital, but it is not a main line station and does not have the same frequency of trains stopping.

Travelling by car

Conquest Hospital is on the B2093 The Ridge. When arriving at the main vehicle entrance the main public car park (pay on foot) is on the left. An additional car park is on the right next to the Richard Ticehurst Surgical Unit (pay and display).

There are some other spaces outside of the Hydrotherapy pool, the Medical Outpatients entrance and the Egerton entrance. These spaces are mainly for people with blue badges.

Patients or visitors may be taken to or collected from the main entrance at drop off points, but cars cannot wait in these areas.

Please be aware parking can be difficult at peak times. Please leave enough time or consider using alternative transport.

Exemptions currently apply to:
  • Blue badge holders – Disabled people: holders of a valid Blue Badge attending one of our hospitals as a patient or visitor, or for a disabled person employed by the Trust receive free parking for the duration of their attendance at, or visit to, our hospitals.
  • Patients attending cancer/oncology clinics and their relatives (national MacMillan guidelines)
  • End of Life Care relatives (bereavement)
  • Frequent outpatient attenders: free parking will be provided to people attending outpatients who attend hospital for an appointment at least three times within a month and for an overall period of at least three months. A ‘month’ is defined as a period of 30 days. Patients should bring their appointment card/letters and present these to the site Parking Office.
  • Parents of sick children staying overnight: this is for a parent or guardian of a child or young person, under 18 years of age, who is admitted as an inpatient to hospital overnight. They will receive free parking between the hours of 7.30pm and 8am while visiting the child. This would apply to a maximum of two vehicles. Parents should visit the site Parking Office to claim this exemption.

Conquest Hospital

Eastbourne DGH

Holders of a valid Blue Badge attending one of our hospitals as a patient or visitor, or for a disabled person employed by the Trust receive free parking for the duration of their attendance at, or visit to, our hospitals.

Blue badge holders can also park in our pay-on-foot car parks free of charge by taking their blue badge and car park entry ticket to the Car Park kiosks before they exit the car park, so they can be validated.

We have provided designated disabled parking bays close to the hospital entrances.

Walking

Directions from Hastings Town Centre to Conquest Hospital

Starting from Queens Road, next to Priory Meadow Shopping Centre. Travel east along Queens Road until you reach a Roundabout.

Cross to go straight ahead or the second exit into St Helens Road. Travel along St Helens Road (Alexandra Park is on the left) until you reach the turn off for Parkstone Road which is on the right.

Turn right and travel up Parkstone Road until you reach the junction with Hillside Road at the top. Turn left into Hillside Road and travel along until you reach the junction with The Ridge.

Turn left onto The Ridge and travel along until the Roundabout. Turn left or the first exit into the grounds of Conquest Hospital.

Help with travel costs

If you are referred to our hospitals for NHS specialist treatment or diagnostic tests by your doctor, dentist or other health professional, you may be able to claim a refund of reasonable travel costs under the Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme (HTCS).

You should take your travel receipts, appointment letter or card, and proof that you are receiving one of the qualifying benefits to the cashier’s office to claim your travel costs:
