Respect personal spaces: To maintain privacy, dignity, and to help stop the spread of germs, please do not enter others’ bed spaces or sit/lie on beds.
Maintain emergency access: For safety in case of an emergency, please do not sleep on the floor.
Dress and footwear: Visitors must remain fully clothed and wear appropriate footwear at all times for hygiene and safety.
Noise consideration: Keep noise to a minimum to avoid disturbing women, birthing people, and their babies. Speak quietly and use headphones for devices, especially at night.
Toilet use: Visitors are requested to use the designated ‘visitor’ toilet out of respect for the women/birthing people on the ward.
Newborn safety: For babies safety, please remain stationary while holding them, as walking while carrying them can pose risks.
Late-night policy: One person is welcome to stay overnight to support. However, to minimise disruption, we ask that visitors do not leave/return to the ward between llpm- 7amunless in exceptional circumstances.
Facilities for visitors: Bedding and showering facilities are not provided, feel free to bring your own pillow and blanket. Visitors can purchase snacks and drinks from vending machines (nearest SCBU). Hot food is available at the 1066 Cafe (Level 3) and Channel View Restaurant Level 4. The ward trolley, in between C and D bay, also provides hot drinks, please help yourself.
Zero tolerance policy: Staff are here to support and give care. They will not tolerate aggression, harassment or intimidation. People who do not follow this will be removed from the ward/hospital.
Smoke-free policy: As part of our smoke-free trust, smoking and vaping are not allowed in the maternity unit and hospital grounds to ensure a healthy environment for everyone.
Compliance requirement: Adhering to these guidelines ensures a respectful and safe environment. Failure to follow these may result in visitors being asked to leave or removed from the ward/hospital.
