Urology – Educational Opportunities

Trainees can benefit from several training/educational activities that are tailored for all levels in Eastbourne. Registrars will have the opportunity to attend local KSS urology regional registrar teaching days at Eastbourne District General Hospital.

Departmental half teaching days

There is an exciting half day departmental teaching program that takes place six times a year for all urological trainees and consultants.

Other teaching opportunities

Our Foundation and Core Surgical trainees will have an opportunity to attend the weekly urology teaching lectures tailored for their specific needs. Urology registrars run and manage these sessions giving them an excellent teaching and leadership experience. Examples of topics:

  • Urological trauma
  • Prostate cancer
  • Ureteric colic
  • Recurrent UTI
  • Penoscrotal emergencies
  • Haematuria
  • Urinary retention
  • Testicular cancer
  • Catheter problems
  • Imaging
  • Introduction to reconstruction urology

Grand rounds

All trainees benefit from attending grand rounds on Monday lunch times. Urological trainees have an excellent opportunity to participate in the urology grand rounds with their teams.

Leadership training

The department continue to invest time in our trainees to ensure that they have continued exposure to leadership opportunities.
